No, we won’t go that far, but recently we have seen an increase in alligator sightings in Funky Town!
According to NBC DFW, two alligators have been spotted swimming in Eagle Mountain Lake, which believe it or not is that unusual for Fort Worth.
Apparently, all the major flooding has led to an increase in alligator sightings in Tarrant County.
Texas Parks & Wildlife alligator program leader Jonathan Warner said, “We've had some major flooding across East Texas, Central Texas in the last week or so. We as a department are getting lots of calls mostly in greater Houston area for alligators that have been somewhat displaced after this flooding, we have alligators popping up in areas they're not normally seen all over eastern portion of the state right now.”
There’s also another reason Fort Worth residents might spot more gators than usual: currently, it’s gator mating season.
Warner warms people to not approach any gators they see, and also advises that alligators are protected a game animal, meaning state law prohibits feeding, killing disturbing, or attempting to move them.
