Even though Thanksgiving has passed, it’s never too early to learn a new tip for next year’s holiday. A man in Florida has gone viral sharing his family technique for thawing a frozen turkey, and it involved their swimming pool. As seen in the video, the man chucks his frozen turkey into the pool to defrost, and apparently this has been their family tradition for years.
Mark O'Donnell of Clearwater, Florida recently shared a video of his family’s strange Thanksgiving tradition of throwing the turkey in their pool to defrost. According to O'Donnell, the tradition began 18 years ago when they forgot to defrost the turkey for Thanksgiving. “Grandma was all upset because we weren't going to have a thawed turkey in time and Uncle Dave came out and tossed it in the pool. Four hours later, we were cooking,” said O'Donnell.
Many online were intrigued by the method, but not everyone was willing to try out the thawing method on their own turkey. Of course, some pointed out that chlorine likely wasn’t great for the turkey, but not everything on the internet has to make sense. By next year, plenty will be eating pool thawed turkey.
