From the bright lights of AT&T Stadium to the neon glow of Broadway, former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Reece Weaver will soon make her debut on Broadway, assuming the role of Roxie Hart in Chicago.
Weaver joined the DCC in 2023, but being on stage was always her dream.
She told CBS Mornings, “I actually did a few musicals growing up in high school," adding that she "just fell in love with the team aspect of growing something and creating something all together. I've always wanted to perform on this Broadway stage."
Other notable performers to play Roxie Hart include Gwen Verdon, who originated the role on Broadway, Liza Minnelli, and Pamela Anderson. Renée Zellweger was nominated for an Academy Award for the lead part in the musical’s 2002 film adaptation.
Weaver's Broadway run is set for six weeks, from Sept. 7 through Oct. 18 at the Ambassador Theatre in New York City.
