Every day, hundreds of people line the streets of the Fort Worth Stockyards to watch a group of longhorns stroll down Exchange Avenue.
It's a tradition that goes back decades, and now the city of Fort Worth is considering a massive upgrade to make sure all the cows are happy and healthy.
According to WFAA, the city is considering a half-a-billion dollar upgrade for the facilities of the Herd, which would include improvements to the Herd's horse barn facilities, livestock facilities, and vehicles.
The upgrades would be paid for through a combination of private and public funds. The city could invest up to $400,000 in improvement, according to an informal report set to be presented to the Fort Worth City Council on Tuesday.
Private donors would fund an additional $177,200 in improvements.
The City Council will vote on providing the funds in November.
