Fort Worth ISD returned to the classroom on Monday to kick off the 2023-2024 school year, and as if kids weren’t upset enough about the end of summer break, many were forced to try learning without the comfort of air conditioning. As classes began, multiple schools throughout the district reported HVAC issues. Not only were classrooms affected, but gyms, libraries and cafeterias as well.
On Monday, Fort Worth ISD’s school year got off to a rough start, as 25 different schools dealt with air conditioning issues “due to the extreme heat.” According to Fox 4 News, the district reported 95 different spaces were affected by these issues. “We want to assure you that we are treating this matter with the utmost urgency. We want to emphasize that the well-being of our students and staff is our primary concern,” Fort Worth ISD said in a statement.
The schools where the air conditioning isn’t working are Daggett Montessori School, North Side HS, Versia Williams ES, Manuel Jara ES, Meacham MS, Riverside MS, Oakhurst ES, Springdale ES, JP Elder MS, Diamond Hill ES, Carter Riverside HS, Trimble Tech HS, North Hi Mount ES, Forest Oak MS, Jacquet MS, Glen Park ES, TA Sims ES, Sagamore Hill ES, SS Dillow ES, Maude Logan ES, Briscoe ES, Mitchell Blvd ES, Dunbar HS, Wyatt HS and Overton Park ES. Hopefully the issues are resolved soon and students can get back to learning comfortably.
