Any time a student graduates college it’s a big deal, even if they took a few extra semesters to do so. However, while some students take advantage of the party atmosphere, one student in Texas decided to buckle down and do something no one has done before. During the upcoming graduation season, 19-year-old Haley Schlitz will become the youngest person ever to graduate SMU law school.

Haley Schlitz has been an exceptional student her whole life, finishing high school at 13 and getting her undergraduate degree from Texas Woman’s University at the age of 16. She was accepted into nine different law schools, but the Fort Worth native decided to go with SMU’s Dedman School of Law to further her education. Now, three years later she is ready to take the next steps as she looks to focus on education issues and increasing opportunities for gifted and talented girls and students of color, according to Fox 4 News.

“One summer she taught herself geometry in six weeks. I think that’s when my wife and I just kind of looked at each other like oh wow, this is much bigger than we ever imagined it would be," said her dad, William Schlitz. At only 19, Schlitz still has plenty of life ahead of her. With a law degree under her belt, she should do just fine.
