People always say they wish they had a class in high school that taught them how to handle adulthood. While learning about math, history and English is helpful, many wish they learned about taxes, budgeting and finances instead.
Luckily for a group of students in Fort Worth, Frost Bank decided to do just that, hosting a “reality fair” to teach students about budget management.
A group of seniors at Young Women's Leadership Academy and Young Men's Leadership Academy recently met with 40 officers of Frost Bank to learn about issues they may face in the real world. The students were given lessons on managing a budget and negotiation. According to NBC DFW, each student was assigned a career with a monthly paycheck and monthly expenses based on real-life scenarios.

“Some ended up with no money and had to sell their car, get second jobs, etc., while others had quite a bit of money and even started a savings account and retirement. They also learned it is not so much fun to make money and have it all go to pay for necessities," said Lynn Hammer.
Overall, many seemed to get something from the “reality fair,” with others wishing they had something similar. Maybe one day this will become a real class students can take.
