Texas has been hit with enough threats of severe weather the last couple of weeks to satisfy the entire year, though it appears that the Metroplex will be free from rain, at least for a while.

We always hear that strong winds and hail are always the biggest threats, and the size of this hail stone that fell in Swisher County proves just how big of a threat it can be.

Val and Amy Castor found the hail stone, which they say is about the size of a can of Monster energy drink, on the side of the road.  News 9 meteorologist David Payne posted a video of the stone, saying it measures 7.25 inches!

According to the Dallas Morning News, the current record for largest hail circumference in Texas is 6.4 inches from an April 2021 storm in Hondo.

To confirm the Swisher County stone did indeed break the Texas record, the National Weather Service will use a 3D printing company to reconstruct the dimensions of the stone, such as volume, diameter and circumference, based on the photographs, as the stone was not saved.
