DFW has changed quite a bit over the last few years, and now an area that has waited 14 years for improvements is finally getting their wish. The long awaited project on Dallas Riverfront Boulevard is finally underway; years after planning for the new development began. The project is expected to be a large mixed-use development that will connect Downtown Dallas and the Trinity River.
Back in 2008, Industrial Boulevard in Dallas was renamed Riverfront to help encourage new development and gain a connection with the planned Trinity River Park. While the park, which was approved in 1998, is still nowhere to be found, the development part is finally happening. The project is being led by Columbus Realty, whose CEO is former Dallas Cowboy Robert Shaw.
“Here we are, we're finally seeing dirt turning. This is going to be a big game changer for the entire city of Dallas,” said City Councilman Omar Narvaez. According to NBC DFW, workers are currently busy at 505 North Riverfront, a former industrial site that sat vacant for years. While no finishing date has been announced, after 14 years many are happy to the project finally underway.
