Dallas city officials have an emergency on their hands. Well, on the roads, really.
A recent study found Loop 12 to be the deadliest roadway in Dallas, which has prompted city leaders to plan dozens of new “emergency” traffic safety changes.
Taylor Toynes, who leads the For Oak Cliff Community Center told NBC DFW, “It's an emergency that needs to be taken care of immediately.”
Michael Morris, the transportation director for the North Central Texas Council of Governments, agrees with Toynes, and says his agency will “help lead the effort to reshape Loop 12 into a slower and safer street.”
“I think you're going to see dozens of strategies being implemented over the next year and maybe dozens of strategies being implemented in addition to that, as we see what works and what doesn't work,” he said.
