As the holiday shopping season approaches, it remains to be seen how many popular Lego sets will be available to purchase before they are all sold out. This man isn’t doing anything to help matters.
28-year-old Winston Love was arrested after Watauga police received a report that a man had stolen more than $1,200 worth of Lego sets from a Target before fleeing the scene.
The police were able to connect that crime to Love, and were able to make contact with him at a home he’d been staying in.
Love was found to have eight outstanding warrants for theft-related charges from Tarrant, Dallas, and Rockwall counties, and a search of the home yielded more stolen items, illegal drugs, and about $5,000 in cash.
All in total, Love is suspected of stealing more than $37,000 in merchandise from Target stores across 14 cities in North Texas over the last two months, according to WFAA.
Love’s primary focus, as was with the Target in Watauga, was valuable Lego sets.
Police say Love is believed to be part of a retail theft ring operating in Texas and Oklahoma.
The investigation into the thefts is ongoing, officials say and additional charges may be filed as evidence is processed.
