Whenever a couple decides it’s time to take the next step and get married, one of the first things they must decide is a date for their big day. While some base their decision on the season, others may select a date with a significant meaning, or a holiday attached to it. However, on Tuesday the Dallas courthouse learned of a new reason couple’s may pick a certain date, as nearly 50 couples signed up to get married at the courthouse on 2-22-22.
There are certain dates throughout the year that are known as “palindrome dates.” These are days where the number sequence reads the same both backward and forward. However, days like Tuesday, which was an eight-day palindrome, are extremely rare, which is why many couples felt it would be the perfect day to get married. “We learned our lesson first on 12-12-12, which was the first one that I did when I took office. And so, we were expecting 2-2-22 and 2-22-22, which happens to be a Tuesday to be busy days," said Judge Paul Raleeh.

According to Fox 4 News, nearly 50 couples got married at the Dallas courthouse on Tuesday, with a wedding ceremony happening every 15 minutes. Luckily the courthouse won’t have to deal with a day like yesterday until 3-3-33. Until then, couples will have to find another reason to get married.
