When Rick Astley released ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ in 1987, no one could have imagined the song would be so beloved in the year 2022. However, thanks to the popularity of the Rickroll meme, the song is possibly more popular now than it ever has been. While the song has seemingly been covered every which way, one YouTuber found a new angle for the classic song. He turned it into a grunge song with the help of Alice in Chains.

A Finnish musician named Otu went viral recently after sharing a mashup that combines multiple Alice in Chains song with Rick Astley’s ‘Never Gonna Give You Up.’ In the video, Otu performs the song, incorporating parts of Alice in Chains’ ‘We Die Young,’ ‘Man In The Box’ and ‘Get Born Again.’ Otu can be heard singing the lyrics to ‘Never Gonna Give You Up,’ but in the style of an Alice in Chains song.

According to Louder Sound, this is not the first time the Youtuber has gone viral for a mashup. Previously he combined Slayer with The B-52's ‘Rock Lobster,’ and System of a Down with Madonna’s ‘La Isla Bonita.’ Of course, the internet has fallen in love with his latest mashup. Maybe one day this version will be the one used to Rickroll.
