As a professional athlete, it always has to feel good to finally arrive back home after a long road trip.
For players on the Dallas Mavericks that feeling has to feel especially nice, as they are the only team in the NBA that has a trained and registered emotional support dog.
Bailey is a 23-month-old mini Bernedoodle and is without a doubt the best employee in the entire Mavs organization.
Bailey, who calls Mavericks assistant athletic trainer Heather Mau "mom," was specifically was trained and "hired" to be an emotional support dog. The players themselves voted on her name.
"She's a fixture," said Mavs owner Mark Cuban. "Bailey is like the little love child of the Dallas Mavericks."
"She's been amazing," said Don Kalkstein, the Mavericks' director of mental skills and mental health. "It's like having another mental health consultant in our department. I'm not even kidding. She's very valuable."
