The skies over North Texas will be a little brighter than normal this month, as multiple meteor showers and other celestial events will be visible over the metroplex over the next few weeks. While visibility will be a factor in certain areas, most of DFW should be able to witness the events just by looking up. Things have already begun with the International Space Station being visible over North Texas over the last three days, and will continue with another event tomorrow night.

On October 8, the Draconid Meteor Shower will hit its peak and be visible over DFW. According to NBC DFW, the meteor shower gets its name from the northern constellation of Draco the Dragon, from which they appear to radiate. Later this month will be another meteor shower, The Orionids Meteor Shower, which will peak on the evenings of Oct. 20 and 21. That meteor shower is created by debris left behind by Halley's Comet.

Along with the meteor showers, there will be multiple full moon sightings in North Texas this month. A full Hunter’s moon will be visible on October 9, with a new moon showing up October 25. With these events, space lovers in DFW will definitely be happy.
