When musicians attempt to cover a classic song, they always risk upsetting fans along the way. That risk only increases when the artist attempts to completely change the song fans have spent years loving. Still, one musician recently decided to give it a try, turning the Blink-182 song ‘All the Small Things’ in to a 80s synth pop song, and the reaction has been shockingly positive.
Youtuber MickMazzMusic has a channel full of cover songs done in different styles; mainly taking songs from the 90s and 2000s and making them sound like they came from the 80s. While many of these covers are impressive, it was his cover of Blink-182’s ‘All the Small Thigs’ that got the attention of the internet, making his latest video go viral. Along with the synth pop sound, the video includes plenty of 80’s style, like the neon graphics and clothing.
Many online were impressed by the musicians cover, with some even suggesting some other songs he should try next. According to brobible, other bands the Youtuber have covered in this style include; Simple Plan, No Doubt, Justin Bieber and many more. Hopefully more 80s style covers are on the way.
