The Trinity River is an iconic part of Dallas. However, longtime Dallas residents lamented the fact that city officials just seemed to have no idea what to do with it.
That notions appears to have changed though, as the city just unveiled its plans to make Trinity River Park a "fantasy wonderland."
After multiple revisions, the new $325 million plan means big changes for the largest section of the Trinity River Park, the West Overlook.
According to the Dallas Morning News, plans for the 22 acres include "an event pavilion, a café, an oval event lawn, a picnic area, a skate park, several themed gardens, a variety of water features and a large play space, along with parking for some 250 cars."
At the center of the Overlook would be a 1,000-feet long reclaimed industrial shed, which would be transformed into "a flexible space open at its sides with paths, furniture and landscape elements woven through and extending out into the surrounding park."
Tony Moore, chief executive of the Trinity Conservancy, has high hopes for the park. "The term 'world-class' is used a bit too much, but we knew the caliber and the quality of the park that we had to deliver for Dallas had to be at a tier-one level," he said.
