The NFL may be the most popular professional sports league in America, but still it is often referred to as the “no fun league” due to the many rules implemented over the years. Apparently these rules are not just for the player’s actions on the field, but for owners and how they act off the field as well. Now, Jerry Jones may be the latest to feel the wrath of the league and it’s all due to a costume he wore for Halloween.

Over the weekend, Jerry Jones’ niece shared a photo of the Dallas Cowboys owner dressed as a blind referee at a Halloween party. The costume was a big hit, and something many NFL fans can relate to. However, it could end up costing Jones due to an NFL rule.

According to NBC DFW, a memo was sent out to NFL front offices in 2019 prohibiting coaches, general managers, team presidents and chiefs executive from criticizing officials. The rule states they should avoid “posting negative or derogatory/demeaning content pertaining to officiating on social media.” Hopefully the costume doesn’t end up costing Jones too much.
