Anyone who has ever purchased an engagement ring has worried about losing the ring before they can offer it to their significant other. Sadly for one DFW man, losing the ring he purchased was out of his control when a tornado blew through Lamar County last week, taking the ring with it. Luckily for the couple, they somehow found the ring among them tornado debris with the help of the Paris Junior College softball team.

When Dakota Hudson and Lauren Patterson emerged from their bathroom after the tornado blew through town, they found a home that was completely destroyed. While assessing the damage, Hudson realized something was missing, the engagement ring he recently purchased. “Needle in a haystack doesn’t come close to what we were looking for,” said Hudson of the lost ring.

Luckily for the couple, the Paris Junior College softball team stopped by to help clean up their home, and when they heard about the missing ring they went to work. According to NBC DFW, the team searched for hours before someone finally found it buried in the mud. Luckily for Hudson, not only did he get the ring back but Patterson said yes.
