Well, better late than never.
A slightly overdue book titled Your Child, His Family, and Friends was just returned to the San Antonio Library. It was overdue by just 82 years!
A letter was accompanied with the book, where the writer explained they believe the book was checked out by their grandmother when their father was 11 years old. Evidently, the writer found the book while clearing out their father's possessions after he passed and felt it was time to finally return it.
The letter went on to express gratitude and hope that there wouldn't be any late fees though luckily, the San Antonio Public Library did away with late fees for overdue books in 2021.
According to NBC DFW, the book is now on display at the library's central branch and will eventually be sold in a used bookstore, with proceeds going back to the San Antonio Public Library.
