It's always a mad scramble trying to collect your belongings after going through TSA screening at the airport. Sometimes, you forget to pick up one of your possessions.
One of the things people leave behind most it seems is loose change.
A new report from the TSA found that travelers left tens of thousands of dollars of loose change at DFW Airport!
According to WFAA, travelers left behind about $57,000 in loose change at DFW! Additionally, so far in 2024, travelers have left behind more than $5,000 in loose change at Love Field, up from just under $4,000 in the previous fiscal year.
Amy Williams, the federal security director at Love Field, said, "The majority of it is nickels and dimes and pennies. As [passengers] are hurrying to get ready to recompose and get to their flights a lot of times the loose change gets left behind."
When TSA officers find money, they're instructed to put it in a lock box kept behind the security checkpoint. "They place the change in a bowl and they walk with the bowl above their head so that there's no confusion," Williams explained.
