Ever since DFW’s first Portillo’s location opened back in January, North Texans have been flocking to The Colony to give it a try. While long lines have persisted at the Chicago-based fast food restaurant, that should soon change as Portillo’s has finally announced the opening date of their second metroplex location. The new restaurant will open in Allen next month.
Earlier this month, Allen got a taste of what’s to come as the Portillo’s Beef Bus came to town to give residents a sample of the food served at the Chicago-based chain. Now, the real thing is finally set to open, as Portillo’s recently announced a special ribbon-cutting ceremony for their new Allen store on September 7. According to Dallas Culture Map, the ceremony will be held at 10AM, and the store will open at 1030AM.
The Portillo’s menu features Chicago-style hot dogs, "Famous" Italian beef sandwiches, burgers, and Portillo’s "Famous" Chocolate Cake. As for the new location, it will include a retro automotive/garage theme, with indoor seating for more than 170, a seasonal outdoor patio, and double drive-thru lanes. Soon, the metroplex won’t remember a time without Portillo’s.
