Lions may be known as the king of the jungle, but that doesn’t mean all other animals live in fear of the big cats. One tiny crab set out to prove that recently, venturing into an area full of lions. Luckily for the crab, the lions were mesmerized by the tiny sea creature, following it around as if it was the new king of the jungle.
As seen in the now viral clip, the pride of lions slowly walk alongside the crab wandering through the area. While it seems like the lions may be looking at the crab as potential food at first, each slowly sits down near the crab and continues curiously watching. The animal encounter occurred at the MalaMala Private Game Reserve in South Africa.
“This is the amazing moment a pride of lions was seen off as they came claw-to-claw in the wild…with a feisty four-inch CRAB!” reads a description of the now viral video. According to Hindustan Times, the video was captured by Rangers Ruggiero Barreto and Robyn Sewell and shared on the Kruger National Park YouTube channel. Hopefully the lions never figured out how delicious crab is.
