It would be quite difficult to find someone who has never heard Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ or Journey’s ‘Don't Stop Believin.’’ However, despite being known to the world for decades now, the two iconic songs were just added to the library of Congress’ National Registry. The two songs, along with some other audio deemed “culturally significant,” were included on the Library of Congress’ list for 2022.

The Library of Congress recently announced 25 recordings being added to the National Registry’s archives for 2022. Along with the beloved songs by Queen and Journey, they also included ‘Livin’ La Vida Loca’ by Ricky Martin, along with iconic rap albums, ‘The Low End Theory’ by A Tribe Called Quest and ‘Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)’ by Wu-Tang Clan. According to AV Club, the Library of Congress has worked with the National Recording Preservation Board since 2002 to archive iconic recordings.

The Library of Congress states that the selections were made based on their “cultural, historical or aesthetic importance in the nation’s recorded sound heritage.” Now, these songs will be archived forever. Congress’ karaoke night just got a lot more interesting.
