How bad is the traffic in Dallas?  It really depends on what time you want to leave your home and get out and about.

When you take into account that rush hour in Dallas can usually last anywhere from 8am to 8pm, traffic here can be BAD.

The transportation data and analytics company INRIX studied the traffic patterns of hundreds of cities across the country and how they were altered from COVID.

According to their data, traffic in Dallas has increased 12% when compared to before the pandemic.  Further, the report found Dallas to be the 17th most congested city in the country!

INRIX also found that people who work in Dallas have added 35 miles per trip to their commutes, and that "super commuting" more than 75 miles to work has increased 29% following the pandemic.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Bob Pishue, the traffic scorecard's author and a transportation data analyst at INRIX, said that thanks to toll roads and public-private partnerships, Dallas doesn't have as much traffic as other large metros, despite its size.

"Texas is always looking at interesting ways to finance and deliver infrastructure, and that is not that common in other states or areas," he said. "Dallas isn't afraid to build."
