Usually when anything involving Rick Astley is shared on social media, it means someone is getting “Rick Rolled.” However, the ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ singer has recently gone viral for a completely different reason. Astley recently joined TikTok where he shares videos of him dancing to some of his favorite songs, and recently he let fans know; he’s a big fan of Slipknot.
Last month, Astley shared a video of himself jamming out to the Slipknot song ‘Duality,’ but it wasn’t until this week that fans began to notice. Many were stunned by the song choice, but Astley has claimed to be a fan of the band in the past, according to Louder Sound. "The thing with [Slipknot] is they actually write really great melodies... They’re quite unconventional [in] the way they write songs sometimes, but it’s just a brilliant track,” Astley said in 2016.
Of course, Slipknot isn’t his only band preference according to his TikTok profile. The singer also recently shared a cover of R.E.M’s ‘The One I love’ along with a video dancing to Pet Shop Boys’ ‘West End Girls.’ However, it’s the Slipknot video that is giving him another internet resurgence. Maybe Astley and Slipknot can get together for a collaboration in the future.
