All the rain we’ve had this summer has certainly kept the temperatures down, which most of us are thankful for.
However, we know there are plenty who would take those triple degree temps any day when they learn that a wetter summer also means a rise….in scorpion sightings.
Yes, North Texas has seen a “scorpion surge” this summer, according to experts.
Ashley Morgan-Olvera, M.S., Director of Research & Education at the Texas Invasive Species Institute at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, told WFAA that a wetter summer means there's a lot more "creepy crawlies" around.
Tanesha Jones moved to Frisco from Chicago, and she usually sees “one a week, one or two a week.” She says, “With me being from Chicago, I'm not used to this type of thing...it's like oh my God!”
Morgan-Olvera says that since the temperatures are lowering, scorpions are starting to come out more to get “one last breeding session in before wintertime.”
