Sometimes businesses have to get creative in order to find new employees. Apparently that’s the case for the Southlake Police Department, as they recently attempted to use music to entice new recruits. In the video that has since gone viral, musicians dressed as Southlake officers perform a parody of a George Strait song in hopes of convincing people to join the team.
The Southlake Police Department recently shared video of a group of musicians performing a new version of George Strait’s ‘Amarillo By Morning,’ with lyrics about becoming a police officer. In the video, country singer Derek Spence sings “Southlake police are hiring, if you need a new career.” According to Fort Worth Star Telegram, the police department claims since sharing the video they have received dozens of applications.

“Our message is that we are about community policing,” said Southlake Public Information Officer Brad Uptmore, who came up with the idea. Now, the police department has three police tests scheduled this fall. Hopefully they get some good recruits, and not just a bunch of George Strait super fans.
