Its officially snake season in Texas. With snake sightings on the rise, many are starting to take precaution to avoid the reptiles at all cost. Sadly for one North Texas woman, there wasn’t much she can do as she spotted a potentially venomous snake inside her shoe closet.
Earlier this week, the Southlake Department of Public Safety shared photos of a snake they removed from a home. According to Dallas Morning News, the snake was spotted in Usha Venkataraman’s shoe closet by her son as he was getting the family’s dogs to take them on a walk. Officials were called, as one officer claimed the baby snake was potentially a venomous cottonmouth.

Luckily, they were able to safely remove the snake before anyone was harmed. The Southlake DPS later revealed the snake was taken to the heavily wooded Bob Jones Park, so it could “live a long, fruitful life away from shoes.” After this incident, it may be some time before Usha Venkataraman puts on shoes without a little bit of worry.
