The State Fair of Texas is days away from the start of the 2022 season, which means people all over the state are starting to plan when they will go visit Big Tex and the rest of Fair Park. Of course, just about every year there is at least one day where weather ruins those plans. Luckily, this year the State Fair of Texas will be using a new weather alert system that should help keep all guests safe.
While guests run around fair park sampling all the food, rides and games the State Fair of Texas has to offer, officials want to make sure all guests are safe. That’s why this year, the fair will introduce Alertus, a phone application that will send out notifications in both English and Spanish when severe weather is near. The fair will also use high-powered public address speakers to notify crowds of approaching weather conditions, according to NBC DFW.

"You know, weather is tricky. You can't always predict it and know what it's gonna do...but we tend to play towards the safe side," said State Fair of Texas Senior Vice President of Operations Rusty Fitzgerald. The State Fair of Texas opens this year on September 30. While good weather is expected this weekend, if anything pops up, the fair will be ready.
