Covering a beloved song can be extremely difficult as rarely are musicians able to come close to matching the original. Of course, when the song’s original singer goes out of their way to compliment the cover, it probably means they did something right. That’s exactly what happened to one man recently, who received praise from Steve Perry after his ‘Don’t Stop Believin’’ cover went viral.

Richard Goodall is an elementary school janitor in Terre Haute, Indiana, but his name is now being spread all over the world thanks to his singing. The janitor was asked to take the stage during the school’s recent talent show and luckily someone captured the incredible moment and shared it online. In the now viral clip, Goodall belts out the Journey classic, ‘Don’t Stop Believin,’’ surprising many with his hidden talent.

“I just wanted them to not stop believing and thinking they can do whatever they want," said Goodall of his song choice. According to Fox News, the cover even got the attention of Steve Perry, who retweeted the video with the caption “I love this.” Luckily for Journey, if anything ever happens to Arnel Pineda, they now have a new replacement singer that can belt the hits.
