It’s October, officially spooky season, which means the Halloween preparations are set to begin.
Kids may already have their costumes picked out, most might even have theirs purchased already, but what are you planning to dress your pet as this year?
It’s an important question, especially around here it seems, and a new study from CertaPet sought to find the most popular Halloween costumes for pets across the nation.
Across the nation, a dinosaur proved to be the most popular, and that translated to the most popular pet costume in Texas as well.
But in the Lone Star State, the second-favorite option was a pumpkin, and third was the horror character Chucky.
Per CW33, Americans spent an estimated $860 million on pet Halloween costumes in 2025, a 22.9% increase compared from 2024. Industry experts are projecting higher retail spending for 2026.
The top ten Halloween costumes for pets nationwide include:
1 – Dinosaur
2 – Pumpkin
3 – Hot Dog
4 – Shark
5 – Ghost
6 – Chucky
7 – Lion
8 (tied) – Ewok
8 (tied) – Scooby-Doo
10 – Grinch
