The best foods are always the ones that are the unhealthiest. Despite knowing the effects of a poor diet, people continue to choose fried and greasy options over clean and healthy dishes. Now, a new study is hoping their data will help convince people to drop certain foods from their diet. The study was able to determine how many minutes certain foods can subtract from one’s life expectancy and some are already starting to cut these dishes from their diet.
According to the study, conducted by researchers at the University of Michigan, certain foods can shave over 30 minutes from one’s life expectancy. The team researched 5,800 unique foods and 6,000 different factors to evaluate the risk level that comes with eating them. What they found was eating hot dogs takes the most time off one’s life; costing the average person 36 minutes of a “healthy lifestyle.”
Some other bad foods that had a negative effect on life expectancy include; burgers, breakfast sandwiches, and cured meats. Of course, according to Brobible there were some items that added time to life expectancy, such as peanut butter, fish, fruits, and nuts. While this might not change everyone’s diet, at least they now can expect to live less because of it.
