Schools are letting out for the year and summer vacations are all set to begin, which means a lot of families across Texas are planning their trips to the beach.
Unfortunately, one of the most prominent beaches in Texas also happens to be the dirtiest in the nation.
A new study from the health education site HubMedEd ranked Galveston beach as the dirtiest beach in America.
The sites annual “Brown Flag Report” analyzed 129 beaches across the nation, and ranked them based on where “bacteria, UV exposure, and water quality are at their worst.”
Unfortunately, Texas is well represented on this list.
The top ten dirtiest beaches in America include:
1 - Galveston Beach, TX
2 - Port Aransas Beach, TX
3 - Rockport Beach, TX
4 - Mustang Island, TX
5 - Myrtle Beach, SC
6 - Folly Beach, SC
7 - Ocean View Beach, VA
8 - Buckroe Beach, VA
9 - Cypremort Point Beach, LA
10 - Carmel Beach, CA
