Usually when someone tries to break a world record there is some kind of meaning behind the attempt. That’s especially true for a group of Texans in Waco, who recently attempted to break a world record in honor of homeless veterans. The group was able to accomplish the goal, setting the world record for the longest line of sleeping bags and now will donate all the record setting sleeping bags to those in need.
On July 4, a group of volunteers took over Baylor’s McLane Stadium in Waco in an attempt at setting a world record to raise awareness for homeless veterans. The group lined up 1,203 sleeping bags shattering the previous record of 550. “When we saw the sheer number of sleeping bags that we had collected, that really got a hold of us,” said event manager at McLane Stadium, Sam Esparza.
According to Fox News, the line of sleeping bags stretched for 1,419 feet. Now, the group plans on donating all the sleeping bags to veterans in need. While some world records are more impressive than others, this one may be one of the most honorable yet.
