A softball coach from Mathis High School recently turned herself into the police after tackling a player on an opposing team during a brawl at a game.
The fight occurred last week between Mathis, about 35 miles away from Corpus Christi, and Taft High School following a close play at the plate.
As the Mathis catcher and Taft runner exchanged words, 25-year-old Briana Cruz can be seen running from the bench and appears to shove the Taft player to the ground before their scuffle was broken up.
According to MySA.com, Cruz turned herself into the police early Friday morning and was charged with assault causing bodily injury. She was released later in the day on a $3,500 bond.
Both districts are investigating the incident.
