Ahead of the eclipse on April 8, 2024, Texas hotels have seen an insane demand, with rates climbing as high as 390% for people wanting to experience the eclipse up close and personal!
It’s truly a once-in-a-lifetime event, though. According to the Dallas Morning News, Dallas hasn’t been in the path of a total solar eclipse since 1878, and won’t be again until 2317.
The total solar eclipse will pass over Dallas from 12:23 to 3:02 pm April 8, with totality, where the sun is completely obscured by the moon, occurring from 1:40 to 1:44 pm.
Katie Moro, vice president of data partnerships and hospitality for Amadeus, a travel technology company, says it’s abnormal for hotels to be selling out this advanced, as most bookings usually occur within seven days of travel.
“The eclipse is already showing that it will drive a bumper April 2024 across the regions through which it will pass,” she said. “It’s very unusual to see these high numbers this far in advance. Solar enthusiasts need to book early to avoid missing out.”
