Police in Texarkana were called to a McDonald's on New Boston Road last Saturday after a suspicious man was seen walking around the premises.
Police received calls that the man had been walking around while carrying a machete and whip.
When officers confronted the man, 32-year-old Kevin Neal, he refused to drop his weapons and proceeded to swing the machete wildly at officers. Officers tried taking Neal down with pepper spray and non-lethal bean bags, but Neal would not be subdued.
Police tried to tackle Neal, who continued to swing the machete wildly, managing to land a striking blow to one of the officer's heads before being taken down and placed into custody.
According to NBC DFW, Neal is facing charges of evading detention, resisting arrest, and aggravated assault. He was later booked into the Bi-State Jail after being medically cleared at the hospital.
The officer who was hit with the machete only suffered from minor injuries and was released from the hospital following treatment.
