Texas named the most sustainable state by new study

DFW was the second most sustainable metro in the country as well

Texas is already known for many things, but it seems every day something new gets added to the list thanks to a study ranking the Lone Star state at the top. Now, the latest attribute to be added to Texas' resume is one that definitely shocked the rest of the country. A new study named Texas as the most sustainable state in America.

Site Selection Magazine recently conducted a study to find the most sustainable state in the country. They looked at factors such as the number of LEED-certified buildings, the number of Energy Star buildings, the number of green industry projects and each state's score in Frontier Group's Shining cities report. Based on their results, the study surprisingly named Texas as the most sustainable state.

According to CW33, the DFW metro was the second most sustainable in the country, only behind the Austin-area metro. "After Sweden, the U.S., Spain, Germany and Finland fill out the top five countries. Texas, Illinois, New York and Arizona top our state measures," claimed the report. Based on this study, Texas now has something new to brag about.
