Extreme weather in Texas has pushed many to the limit in 2022. It started earlier in the year with freezing temperatures, and has flipped in the summer with record heat. Now, there is another reason for Texans to be upset about the weather, as it has caused a strawberry shortage that has affected many growers throughout the state.

A new report from the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Office is claiming that the extreme weather conditions Texas has experienced this year has made it difficult for farmers to grow strawberries. “The last couple of years we've had some issues with freezing temperatures in the early year, and it's knocked out flowers. It's burned back some of the plants, and so growers have had a little struggle there in most of our production in the north and east Texas areas were about average this year," said Dr. Russel Wallace, Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Office.
