Usually when people put a doggy door on their home, they worry if any other animals will be able to get through it. While most animals that size are harmless, sometimes an unwanted guest can make its way inside. Sadly, a family in Louisiana recently had to deal with the worst case scenario, after an alligator snuck into their home using the doggy door.

When the Schultz family moved from Arizona to Louisiana they probably expected to see some alligators, just not in their home. However, that’s exactly what happened recently after a five foot alligator made its way inside using their doggy door. Luckily, their dog’s growls woke them up and they were able to call animal control before the alligator got to them.

According to Bro Bible, animal control was able to safely capture and remove the alligator. Now, the couple has purchased a new door that only unlocks by interacting with their dog’s collar. From now on, all their alligator interactions will just have to happen outside the home.
