Earlier this year, it was announced that Walmart would be bringing their drone delivery technology to the metroplex. Now, that day has finally arrived as groceries can be delivered via drone from 11 Walmart locations in DFW. This marks the start of Walmart’s plan to offer drone delivery to 4 million households around the country.
Walmart shoppers in DFW no longer have to leave home to get groceries, as drone delivery is now available throughout the metroplex. In partnership with DroneUp, Walmart is now offering the service at locations in Garland, Murphy, Plano, Richardson, Mesquite, Dallas, Rowlett and The Colony. Those that live within a mile of the participating store can order through the website, www.droneupdelivery.com, according to Dallas Culture Map.

While Texas is the first to get Walmart’s new drone delivery, they plan to expand to Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Utah, and Virginia by the end of the year. "It may seem like a futuristic option, but it’s giving our customers what they’ve always wanted, and that’s time back to focus on what is most important to them,” said Walmart VP Vik Gopalakrishnan. With this new feature, Walmart has assured the future is here.
