When Waymo launched its driverless vehicles in Dallas in February, it was only available to a select few via invitation only.
Yesterday, the service was opened up to all residents and visitors of Dallas who download the Waymo app.
According to FOX 4, Waymo is still only operating within the company’s service area, but the company will be conducting tests at Love Field, and foresee the vehicles being able to travel to and from both airports in the future.
Chris Justl, CEO of Epilepsy Foundation Texas, says that autonomous vehicles provide greater independence for people whose medical conditions limit their ability to drive.
He said in a statement, “Waymo autonomous vehicles are not just the future, they're a transformational step forward for the epilepsy community and anyone living with medical conditions that limit their ability to drive, creating a new pathway to safe, independent travel.”
