There is one reason Hollywood continues to churn out movie sequels every chance they get; money. While many actors prefer to be done with a project once filming is over, sometimes the money offered for a sequel is too good to pass up. However, apparently that’s not the case for Will Ferrell, who recently revealed he turned down nearly $30 million to make ‘Elf 2.’

Will Ferrell is no stranger to sequels, making follow ups to films such as ‘Anchorman,’ ‘Daddy’s Home’ and ‘Zoolander,’ but apparently he has no interest in returning to one of his most iconic roles. Despite years of fans demanding a sequel, Will Ferrell apparently has no interest in making another ‘Elf’ movie, even turning down $29 million to make a sequel. “I would have had to promote the movie from an honest place, which would’ve been, like, ‘Oh no, it’s not good. I just couldn’t turn down that much money,’” Ferrell said recently when asked about making another ‘Elf.’

According to NME, the original ‘Elf’ made $222 million at the box office, and has become a holiday staple for many. Still, that wasn’t enough to convince Ferrell to return as Buddy the Elf. Maybe in the future, someone will offer him $40 million, and he’ll give the fans what they want.
