While we won’t get the official lowdown of what went on at the 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony until it’s aired on November 20th, Go-Go’s bassist Kathy Valentine has already revealed a major tribute was left out of the show.

Valentine was inducted alongside the rest of her Go-Go’s bandmates as part of the Rock Hall’s Class of 2021 and took to her blog to give fans a look at the inner workings of the night. Specifically, how a planned tribute to the late Charlie Watts was scrapped.

Valentine said there was a traditional “all-star jam” that was planned for this year’s induction ceremony that would pay tribute to the late Rolling Stones drummer. The original plan was to perform “Tumbling Dice,” but the show ran long and the jam was ultimately scrapped.

“It ended up not happening, due to the show length and union issue I am fairly certain,” Valentine.

Valentine was quick to point out that the Rock Hall shouldn’t be the target of criticism over the canceled tribute.  “It was not the Rock Hall’s fault, that’s for certain,” Valentine wrote.

Valentine called rehearsals of the song a “highlight for sure” and gave fans a tease at what might have been. Belinda Carlisle, Brandi Carlile, and Jennifer Hudson were set to trade vocal duties with each verse, while Dave Grohl and H.E.R. would have tackled the guitar solos together.

“Everyone was so supportive and mutually fanning on each other, it was just incredible,” Valentine added. “It was a great way to end the night before the induction ceremony.”
