With their wins at the 2022 Creative Arts Emmys, both Adele and Eminem just added one more award to their collection of many, making them one step away from coveted EGOT status.

For those who don’t know, EGOT status is an elusive acronym for when an artist has won an Emmy, GRAMMY, Oscar and a Tony. One that only 17 people have managed to achieve, the likes of which include Audrey Hepburn and Whoopi Goldberg, and more recently John Legend and Jennifer Hudson.

During the non-televised Emmy event, Adele won for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) for her CBS special, “One Night Only.” While, Eminem won for Outstanding Variety Special (Live), alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent and Kendrick Lamar for the Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show. Executive producer JAY-Z was also among the award recipients.

So, with their recent Emmy wins, multiple GRAMMYs, and an Academy Award for original song under both of their belts, it seems the only thing missing for Adele and Eminem is a Tony.

Grateful, Adele took to Instagram to share her reaction to the awards announcement, “Bloody hell I’m pleased as punch!” she wrote, along photos of her posing with the statuette.

“Trust me to officially have an EGO,” she punnily added, acknowledging the honor. “Thank you so much @televisionacad , I’m so so honored to receive this. Big up to everyone involved. @griffithobservatory thank you for letting me sing up on your mountain and big love to all the other nominees x.”

So, who do you think will hit EGOT status first?

Well, if a Vegas residency qualified for Tony Award consideration, we’d say Adele would have surely taken the cake. But alas, that’s not how it works, as a production needs to have officially opened on Broadway to be considered. So really, at this point, it’s anyone's game.

Fingers crossed for 8 Mile: The Musical.
