It looks like fans will no longer be moshing along to Pantera at this year’s Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, CA, after the heavy metal legends announced they need to back out, “due to circumstances beyond our control."

The newly reformed Pantera revealed the unfortunate news via their social channels on September 21, just two weeks before 2023's Aftershock Festival is set to kick off October 5 through 8 at Sacramento's Discovery Park. The band adds it "pains us to have to miss" the "monumental event," but they do plan on being back for next year's iteration.
Filling in will be the Jeff Gutt-fronted grunge rockers Stone Temple Pilots, taking Pantera’s spot in the lineup on Thursday, October 5 with a set of well-known favorites including “Interstate Love Song,” “Vasoline,” “Trippin’ on a Hole in a Paper Heart,” “Plush,” and more. As fans are well aware, STP's enigmatic original singer, Scott Weiland, passed away in 2015.
The 2023 Aftershock Festival -- also featuring scheduled sets from TOOL, Incubus, Queens Of The Stone Age, Korn, Turnstile, Avenged Sevenfold, Limp Bizkit, Guns N' Roses, and tons more -- is set for October 5 through 8 at Sacramento's Discovery Park. Tickets are available HERE.
