Bob began his broadcast news career in 1979 at KBLX Radio in Berkeley. He worked at KDIA Radio in Oakland in 1980 before being hired at KCBS in 1981.

He has covered every kind of story in the United States, including politics, business, disasters, and crime. He has also reported from Brazil, Northern Ireland, South Africa, Rwanda, Mozambique, Namibia, Tanzania, and Senegal.

He worked 18-months as the Director of Diversity for CBS Corporation,

recruiting candidates for the company’s radio and television stations.

Bob has a passion for training the next generation of journalists, he has taught at UC Berkeley and San Francisco State University and has participated in training projects around the world.

He was an independent journalist on the award-winning Chauncey Bailey Project and spent eight years on the board of the National Association of Black Journalists. He was President from 2013-2015.

He is the Broadcast Vice President on the SAG-AFTRA national board and has a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from San Francisco State.
