Before his time in security, Nishita was a police officer with the San Jose Police Department and a sergeant with the Colma Police Department.

Colma Commander Sherwin Lum remembered Nishita as an incredible person to serve under.

"He was really truly one of the best sergeants that I worked for personally, but he was much more than that," he told KCBS Radio. "He was a true friend and part of our Colma Police Department family."

While working in the police force, Nishita was committed to breaching the gap between law enforcement and the Bay Area community.

"Kevin was kind, he was caring, he was passionate and most importantly he was very honorary. He really dedicated to improving the lives of others by volunteering to sign up for countless community events in just an effort to show the public a human side of the badge," Lum recounted.

Lum told KCBS Radio that Nishita dedicated everything to his work and that he cared immensely about being in the line of duty. He gave 110% every day and showed a perfect balance between fighting crime and serving the people in his communities.
