A Pittsburgh woman is the first-ever “Jeopardy!” Invitational Tournament champion.
Victoria Groce of Point Breeze was the first player to win twice in the finals on Tuesday.
She beat “40-game super-champ” Amy Schnieder and five-game champ, Andrew He.
All three contestants got the “Final Jeopardy!” response correct but it was Groce who walked away the winner with a total of $20,001.
“They were very hard-fought games in the finals,” Victoria said on a special post-tournament episode of the Inside Jeopardy! podcast when discussing playing Amy and Andrew. “I never took anything for granted against the two of them. They are just too good.”
Many of the tournament players had won several games during their first runs on the show, Groce was only a one-game champion, beating “super-champion” David Madden in season 22.
“I hoped that I knew as many facts as anybody else,” Victoria said. “I knew that everybody else had a lot more experience on this stage and also a whole lot more hours on the buzzer than I did.”
Groce, originally from Georgia, last played “Jeopardy!” in 2005.
She was also a contestant on the ABC television show “The Chase.”

“Jeopardy” airs in the Pittsburgh area weeknights at 7:30 on WPXI.
Groce lives in Pittsburgh with her husband and daughter.
